Rose Kansiime
Rose Kansiime is a Program officer for Umurage Growth, she is based in Uganda. She is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering programs, collaborating with the Executive Director, coordinating activities with partner organizations, monitoring progress, and ensuring donor requirements are met. Rose oversees the young women’s program in Uganda, and the online young women alumni engagement project. Rose holds a bachelor of arts degree in development studies from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
As a certified Conscious Social Change practitioner with over four years of experience, she possesses a well-rounded set of skills in empowering young women to lead a life of learning, earning, thriving and changing lives in their communities. Rose is a social entrepreneur, having graduated from Global Grassroots’ Young Women’s Academy, which trains and supports women to become change agents. Rose was able to design her own 7-month venture to reduce the rate of early pregnancies and early marriages while keeping girls in school in her community. She worked with girls in and out of school, parents, teachers, local leaders and church leaders. She managed all funding, evaluations and reporting, among other responsibilities. This lived experience of running her own venture has enabled her to support young women to thrive as entrepreneurs. Rose is also a certified level 1 BBM teacher, it involves wellbeing practices that helps one to restore balance.
In her former role as Global Grassroots’ Uganda Program Associate, she coordinated young women program working on social issues. Her multiple roles at Global Grassroots have strengthened her capabilities in leading and managing complex activities. She led the Young Women’s Academy East Africa regional program which involved managing logistics for two weeks residential training for both staff and participants from South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda, collect data and stories, mentoring, and reporting, facilitation and site visits. As result of her close support to these young women some of them have been able to form their own organizations, some have taken up leadership positions in schools, church and at their work places, and others have earned scholarship opportunities. She also led the Young Women Alumni Engagement Program, a digital support program for our218 alumni.
